Motorhome Satellite System Features
Easy to Install
The Avtex Snipe Satellite System couldn’t be easier to install and doesn’t require any specialist skills. The set-up is done which can be done in a matter of minutes by means of an easy to use remote control which allows you to select from a choice of satellites for maximum performance.
The Snipe has nine pre-programmed satellites with the option of programming a further three of your personal choice onto the remote control for future use.
Built in GPS System
The Avtex Snipe Satellite System has a built-in GPS system which is able to detect your location automatically. The device is then able to adjust the element in order to establish the best position.
Despite its bijoux size, this is a very impressive piece of kit. The element design used for the Avtex Snipe Satellite System is state of the art and is equivalent to using a 65 cm dish. Whether you are in Loch Ness, the top of a Swiss mountain or on the Devon coast, in a valley or on a mountain, the Avtex Snipe Satellite System will allow you to access your favourite programmes.
Please note: The UK model of the Selfsat Snipe Antenna distributed through Avtex does not come with the base plate.
|Model name / number||SNIPE|
Bought the snipe system for our motorhome, great price and quick delivery from Yeltsa. Very easy to use and provides good coverage where we have travelled so far. Have already recommended Yeltsa to our friends and family, keep up the great work :)
Have had my Snipe almost two years now after changing caravans - outgoing van had satellite dome on roof but at almost twice the cost of a SnIpe. The Snipe is well made, easy to set up and once tuned in you can remove the controller cable and pack away some of the bits and pieces just leaving the Snipe in place attached to the antenna feed.
My new caravan is wired in such a way that I can link the antenna cable to the satellite receiver point in the battery locker so no additional cable inside the van. I use an Avtex TV which has a built-in satellite decoder and the picture quality is superb, especially in HD.
I also discovered I could set the Snipe up INSIDE the awning getting the signal through the plastic window (of course as long as there is no obstructions outside to receiving a signal). It even continued to work with the awning curtains closed, the signal penetrated the plastic window AND curtain material no problems!
My ONLY gripe has already been mentioned by others - security! I know the vast majority of caravanners and motorhome users are 100% honest, but at over £600 I want to ensure the unit is safe. It really needs a specially shaped base that will accommodate a high quality secure chain/cable. I have found a way to secure to the caravan's frame but it's not ideal.
All in all though this is a great piece of kit, easy to use, good quality build, goes almost anywhere (have also used it throughout France and Northen Italy) and linked to an Avtex TV is perfect.
On trying out the device at home it took me longer to connect the cables than it did to have the system search and find the satellite on Friday evening.
Whole system works a treat, bit like something out of a science fiction movie.
What a great piece of kit but if there has to be a single complaint it’s that there is no special security fixing on the device.
I’ve got around the security issue with a long loop padlock and some security cable fixed though one of the securing bolt holes on the base but that requires me to have removed before putting the device back in the home position or else there could be damage.
On a Site Weekend 22nd March 2013.
Used the device for the 1st time onsite and BRILLIANT!
Took me less than 5mins to be all setup and the device secured to the van.
I had the device on a caravan step and even in winds of excess 37MPH it was stable.
I bought the product five months ago for use with my Motorhome and I have used it only twice.
Although I have used it much, it has been very easy to use, always quick to set-up and find signal. Would definitely recommend this product and YELTSA to anyone.
If it doesnt come with the baseplate, how much does this cost ?
Is there a facility for a twin LNB, so that you can record whilst watching.
